GDSFC 2026/27: A New Season Begins
The wait is almost over.
After months of preparation, pre-season friendlies and plenty of hard work behind the scenes, the Glasgow and District Sunday Football Championship returns this weekend.
More than sixty clubs will begin the new campaign spread across six divisions, each with their own ambitions. Some will be targeting league titles, others promotion, while many simply look forward to another season representing their club every Sunday morning and afternoon.
For everyone involved, this weekend represents a fresh start.
How Footy Focus Will Cover the GDSFC
Footy Focus is proud to provide independent coverage of the GDSFC throughout the 2026/27 season.
Rather than trying to report every result, our aim is to tell the stories behind Scottish amateur football.
Each week, Frank Sideline will visit selected matches from across the league, speaking to players, managers, volunteers and match officials while highlighting the moments that make Sunday football such an important part of the amateur game.
Alongside our featured match, we’ll also be keeping an eye on the biggest talking points developing across all six divisions as the season unfolds.
🏆 Premiership
The Premiership once again looks packed with quality.
Reigning champions Todholm AFC begin the defence of their title, but they’ll face strong competition throughout the campaign from established clubs including Maryhill Milan, Hillwood AFC, Pollokshields United, Polonia Glasgow, Haghill AFC and the remaining sides making up what promises to be another highly competitive top division.
Opening day won’t decide any trophies, but it can certainly set the tone for the months ahead.
🏆 Championship
The Championship already looks one of the most competitive divisions in the league.
With clubs such as Easterhouse FA, Pollok Dynamo, Caledonian Spartans, Rossvale Sundays, EKYM AFC and Drumchapel United AFC all beginning the campaign with promotion ambitions, every point could prove valuable from the very first weekend.
It’s a division where consistency is likely to be just as important as quality.
🏆 Division One
Division One brings together a strong mix of established Sunday clubs and ambitious sides looking to continue their progress through the GDSFC.
With experienced names throughout the division, there’s every reason to believe this will produce some closely contested fixtures as the season develops.
🏆 Division Two
Division Two immediately catches the eye.
New chapters begin for clubs including Bardykes Rovers and Fully Rovers, while established sides such as Castlemilk FA, Glasgow Irish, Vale AFC and Garrison Athletic ensure there will be no shortage of competitive football.
Even before a ball has been kicked, this already feels like one of the divisions to watch.
🏆 Division Three
Division Three features another fascinating blend of clubs from across the west of Scotland.
Every team begins the season level on points and full of optimism, with promotion the aim and plenty of opportunities to make an early statement over the opening weeks.
🏆 Division Four
Division Four completes another impressive league structure, providing clubs with the opportunity to begin their own journey through the GDSFC.
For many, opening weekend marks the start of a season that could create new rivalries, memorable victories and stories that nobody can predict today.
A Season Full of Stories
Every football season develops its own identity.
There will be surprise results, title races, promotion battles, cup runs and unforgettable moments. New players will emerge, clubs will exceed expectations and every Sunday will bring another opportunity to write a new chapter.
Those are the stories we’ll be looking to share throughout the season.
