Woodhill AFC could hardly have asked for a better beginning to life in the GDSFC.

Their first-ever league fixture ended with a convincing 5–1 victory over Unity, giving the new club an opening-day performance and result to remember.

Following the game, Woodhill shared their thoughts on finally stepping onto the pitch, the strength of their team performance and their ambitions for their first season.

How did it feel finally stepping onto the pitch for Woodhill’s first ever GDSFC fixture?

“The feeling was surreal. All the effort behind the scenes finally paid off. Even better to get the 3 points with some great goals along the way.”

A 5-1 win against Unity — couldn’t have asked for a better start! How pleased were you with the performance?

“It was a good performance. I thought we took our chances, however towards the end of the game we took our foot off the gas and Unity took advantage.”

What do you think was the biggest positive from the game?

“The team’s unity was brilliant. The control we showed throughout the game stood out.”

Was there a particular player or moment that stood out for you?

“We were very effective from set pieces, with Finlay Mills standing out in this department.”

What are the ambitions for Woodhill in your first GDSFC season?

“To win and to have a good time doing it.”

How have you found the experience of joining the league so far?

“Yes, so far so good — very smooth.”

What would you say to the Woodhill players and any followers after such a strong opening day performance?

“We’ve started strong, however we know we can do more — and we will do more.”
