Hills Solicitors Championship Preview – Sat 29th Aug

ALL SATURDAYS CHAMPIONSHIP FIXTURES AND INFO

The Hills Solicitors Championship has produced a competitive start to the season, and Saturday brings another important set of fixtures.

The standout game comes at the top, where Remo and Westhill United meet with both sides sitting on 15 points. With Gladstone not in league action, there is an opportunity for one of them to finish Saturday at the summit.

Elsewhere, clubs throughout the division have the chance to build on encouraging starts, respond to recent results and begin shaping their position as the Championship table develops.

Here’s what to look out for on Saturday.

Glasgow Ansar AFC vs Cambuslang Football Academy AFC

BOTTOM-HALF BRAWL AS ANSAR HOST CAMBUSLANG

Twelfth-placed Glasgow Ansar host Cambuslang FA in a critical early-season tussle with both sides desperate for breathing room.

Separated by a single point—Ansar on four and Cambuslang on three—a victory is non-negotiable for either squad to spark their campaign into life and pull away from the early-season danger zone.

Kings Park United AFC vs Eastwood Park Mount AFC

KINGS PARK EYE MID-TABLE SEPARATION AGAINST EASTWOOD

Kings Park United look to consolidate their league position this Saturday when they host Eastwood Park Mount at Bannerman HS.

With just two points separating the sides, Kings Park aim to leverage home turf to widen the gap, while eighth-placed Eastwood know an away victory could prove pivotal in capitalizing on their game in hand.

Lokomotiv Glasgow AFC vs Clydebank SM AFC

CLYDEBANK TARGET TOP-FOUR CRASH AT LOKOMOTIV

High-flying Clydebank SM take their formidable early-season form on the road this weekend as they visit Lokomotiv Glasgow.

Sitting fifth in the table after taking four wins from their opening five fixtures, Clydebank will be eager to maintain their red-hot pace.

Lokomotiv, meanwhile, are desperate for a statement victory to kickstart their campaign, but stopping a prolific visiting side presents a mammoth test on home soil.

Pollok United SMAFC vs Muirend AFC

HIGH-STAKES COLLISION AS MUIREND VISIT POLLOK

Fourth-placed Muirend AFC travel to sixth-placed Pollok United in one of the weekend’s standout fixtures.

Muirend AFC need maximum points to keep the heat on the frontrunners, but host side Pollok United can blow the top-four race wide open with a home victory.

Both sides go into this match on the back of some good form which entails that this match could be a cracker.

Remo FC vs Westhill United FC

TOP SPOT ON THE LINE AS REMO HOST WESTHILL UNITED

The summit of the Hills Solicitors Championship is at stake in Saturday’s early kickoff when Remo FC welcome Westhill United FC.

Both sides carry identical 15-point tallies into the fixture following their promotion from the Conference League last term, where Remo clinched the championship title.

With league leaders Gladstone Athletic without a fixture this weekend, victory for either team will guarantee clear possession of first place.

Southside United AFC vs Westerlands AM AFC

WESTERLANDS TARGET KICKSTART AS SOUTHSIDE HOST 10 AM CLASH

Southside United face a stern test of their early-season resolve as they welcome 10th-placed Westerlands AM to Firhill Complex.

Sitting 13th with three points on the board, Southside are desperate to ignite their campaign on home soil.

A win for Southside would see them go level on points with their opponents and win for Westerlands puts them into the promotion places.

Third Lanark AFC vs Nethercraigs AFC

THIRD LANARK TARGET TOP-HALF PUSH AS NETHERCRAIGS VISIT

A critical morning kickoff sees Third Lanark host bottom of the league Nethercraigs AFC Overlee football parks.

Without a single point to their name following five opening fixtures, Nethercraigs face a mounting crisis and are desperate to kickstart their campaign.

Hosts Third Lanark, meanwhile, will view the encounter as a mandatory victory as they aim to build momentum toward the upper half of the table.

HUGH’S FINAL THOUGHTS

There is one fixture that immediately stands out this weekend. Remo and Westhill United both have 15 points, and with Gladstone not in league action, Saturday gives one of them the opportunity to take over at the top.

What makes it even more interesting is their shared journey. Both were promoted from the Conference last season, with Remo going up as champions, and both have carried that momentum into the Championship.

Elsewhere, there are still plenty of points to be won and positions to establish. It is far too early for talk of must-win games or seasons being decided, but we are beginning to learn a little more about this division every week.

For me, Remo against Westhill is the one to watch.
