🕵️ HUGH DUNNIT’S TEAM OF THE WEEK

The best of the weekend line up in a 4-3-3

Another weekend of amateur football, another stack of outstanding performances — and once again Hugh Dunnit has been keeping a close eye on who really stood out.

There were goals galore, clean sheets, captains leading from the front and some seriously impressive individual displays.

With the one-player-per-club rule in place, picking the final XI was never going to be easy.

But after plenty of deliberation, here is Hugh Dunnit’s Team of the Week!

🧤 GOALKEEPER

Dean Blakely – Bishopton FC

Deano has enjoyed an excellent start to the season and his form shows no sign of slowing down.

Two or three excellent saves kept Bishopton in front, but it was the final save of the afternoon that really caught the eye — virtually the last kick of the ball to ensure all three points were heading Bishopton’s way.

A huge moment from a keeper enjoying a cracking run of form.

🛡️ THE BACK FOUR

Drew Purdy – Greater Croftpark Rose

The Centre Back with Clean Sheets

Drew was excellent at the back and never gave his opponents a sniff. His range of passing was superb and he looked composed throughout, helping GCR secure a big win and clean sheet.

Brian Henderson – Clydeside Athletic

The Clydeside captain led from the back with class and composure.

His leadership was vital as his side picked up a big win, and Henderson once again showed exactly why he is such an important player for the team.

Derek Elder – Rutherglen Glencairn AFC

An absolute engine.

Del was up and down the park all game, contributing at both ends and showing the attacking qualities that make him such a dangerous defender.

Jay Proctor – Remo FC

Normally a centre back, Jay was asked to fill in at left back due to Remo’s short squad — and looked completely at home.

A versatile player who can also operate in midfield, Proctor put in another solid performance during what has been an excellent run of form.

⚽ MIDFIELD THREE

Kevin McFarlane – Rutherglen Glencairn AFC

Four goals. MOTM. Enough said.

Kevin produced a sensational display and was excellent from start to finish.

Four quality goals capped off a performance that was simply impossible to ignore.

Tahir Bhatti – Glasgow Ansar

Another dominant midfield display from Bhatti.

He kept possession well, created chances and once again produced one of those trademark free kicks.

A player who continues to make things happen.

Luke Merrill – Westerlands

The winning run continues whenever Luke Merrill plays.

This time he added a goal and an assist to his already impressive contribution.

Relentless throughout and another player who is proving hugely influential for Westerlands.

🔥 THE FRONT THREE

Gary Arbuckle – Clydebank SMFC

Quite simply, the best player on the park.

Gary’s quality shone through and his five goals helped secure the victory and his Man of the Match award.

When you score five, there isn’t much more that needs to be said.

Brandon Mann – Tollcross AFC

Four goals. Five assists.

Playing in the number 10 role, Brandon produced a ridiculous attacking return.

Andy Duthrie – Westerlands

Four goals and five assists in one game is the sort of performance that makes selection for Team of the Week pretty straightforward.

Top quality.

The hattrick hero makes the XI.

Whether it was the gaffer’s old boots or simply a player in sensational form, Andy was tireless throughout and could quite easily have finished with six.

Three goals and a constant threat from start to finish.

🪑 THE NINE SUBSTITUTES

Ross Fadian – LS Memorial

Another wonderful performance from the Memorial number one. When Ross is in this kind of form, Memorial are a much more dangerous team.

Daniel Horbury – Cumbernauld Pumas

Controlled his box brilliantly at set pieces, distributed the ball excellently and produced two great saves to preserve his clean sheet.

David Milne – DTI AFC

Excellent at the back, leading by example and helping DTI to a big victory.

Brandon McAuley – Camby Milan

A standout performance once again, constantly causing problems both on and off the ball.

David Hurrell – Muirend AFC

His fantastic touches in midfield were a joy to watch. A strong and technically impressive performance.

Ryan Donnelly – Eastwood Parkmount

Tremendous on and off the ball and put in an incredible shift for his team.

Ciaran McFadden – QPSFC

Came on early after an injury and took a little time to settle before exploding into life in the second half with two excellent goals.

Dylan Henry – Castlemilk CFC

Another two goals from the striker. Another week in the Squad of the Week.

Ryan Clifford – Lomond FC

A top-class finish from the number nine accompanied by another all-round strong performance.
