DTI AFC got their Conference League campaign off to a flying start as they recorded a convincing 8-0 victory over new boys JSFA FC.

It was a comfortable win in the end, but JSFA deserve credit for the way they approached their first taste of Conference League football, keeping their shape and continuing to try and play football despite being under pressure for long spells.

DTI took around 15 minutes to break the deadlock after a mix-up involving the JSFA goalkeeper allowed Dec Smith to nip in and fire home.

From there, DTI controlled the majority of possession and created chance after chance, although a combination of good goalkeeping, some poor finishing and the occasional spell of over-playing meant they couldn’t add to their advantage before the interval.

JSFA remained disciplined and dug in as the half-time whistle approached, heading into the break just one goal behind.

The second half was a completely different story in front of goal.

DTI became much more clinical, with their passing in the final third particularly crisp and effective as they began to find the gaps in the JJSA defence.

Ali grabbed himself a double, while Dec Smith added his second of the afternoon to put DTI firmly in control.

William Milne then got in on the act from the penalty spot before Ryan Hughes produced two lovely finishes, giving the JSFAgoalkeeper little chance on either occasion.

To their credit, JSFA never stopped trying to play. The young side put together a few decent moves, particularly out wide, and continued to look for a way into the game rather than simply sitting back and defending.

With DTI firmly in the driving seat, Kev Mac rounded off the scoring with the eighth goal to complete a very comfortable opening-day victory.

For DTI AFC, it was an ideal way to begin their Conference League campaign, with plenty of attacking threat and a second-half performance that turned a tight 1-0 half-time lead into a comprehensive victory.

For JSFA FC and manager John, there will undoubtedly be plenty to take from their first competitive outing. They showed discipline, continued to try and play and, with such a young squad, will hopefully learn plenty from the experience.
