The opening weekend has thrown up some serious contenders.

We’ve already seen hat-tricks, four-goal hauls, last-minute winners, stunning strikes and players coming off the bench to completely change games.

So, after going through all the nominations from across the opening round of fixtures, we’ve narrowed it down to seven players who stood out above the rest.

Now it’s time to pick our first Player of the Week of the new season.

⭐ THE NOMINEES

McAllister helped himself to a hat-trick on the opening weekend and immediately put his name into the conversation for our first Player of the Week award.

Three goals and an assist, with that assist coming for Ansar’s dramatic last-minute equaliser.

A huge individual contribution and a performance that looked like it might have been enough to win the game on its own.

MacDonald picked up exactly where he left off and was straight back among the goals as Westhill made a statement on the opening weekend. Four goals in one game WOW

One of his four was a brilliant long-range effort, adding a bit of quality to what was already an outstanding goalscoring display.

Possibly the biggest game-changing performance of the weekend.

Tollcross went into half-time 1-0 down before Mann was introduced.

What happened next?

Two goals, an assist for the winner and a superb delivery from the corner for the decisive goal.

He didn’t just influence the game.

He changed it.

One of the most dramatic individual performances of the weekend.

Cunningham produced two goal-line clearances to keep his side in the game before stepping up with one of the goals of the weekend — an incredible overhead kick in the final minute to secure all three points.

Defensive work at one end.

A spectacular winner at the other.

Not a bad afternoon.

Competitive debut.

Red Star had been hoping their new signing would carry his impressive pre-season form into the league.

He did exactly that.

Three goals on his competitive debut is some introduction to the league.

A captain’s performance from the REMO midfielder.

Clocherty controlled the middle of the park, pulled the strings for his side and capped his display with two quality goals.

A classy individual performance which helped REMO secure a huge opening-day victory.
