YOUNG POSITIVE AFTER DISAPPOINTING LOSS

Southside United manager Kev Young was left rueing late mistakes as his side fell to a frustrating 3-2 defeat against 10-man Remo FC on Saturday.
In an action-packed encounter, Southside opened the scoring before falling 2-1 behind, only to display real character and drag themselves back level at 2-2. However, despite enjoying a numerical advantage after Remo were reduced to ten men, a series of costly defensive lapses in the final 20 minutes allowed the opposition to snatch a dramatic winning goal.

Reflecting on the frantic finish, Young admitted his side struggled to capitalize once they fell behind again late on. “We didn’t use the ball well enough after that to get another equaliser,” the manager conceded.
Despite the setback, Young insisted there were plenty of positives to take from the performance, praising the work rate and defensive foundation built across most of the 90 minutes.
“It’s not all negative,” Young said. “The boys worked hard, gave everything, and the defence was outstanding for the majority of the game.”

Among the standout performers was striker Ryan Metcalfe, who continued his stellar early-season form with another clinical performance up front to earn the Man of the Match award. Young also highlighted the contributions of Doyle alongside the rest of the defensive line, who delivered solid displays despite the late heartbreak.
Southside will now look to tidy up those crucial late-game errors as they turn their attention to the next fixture.
