How did you see the game change as Maryhill BS fought back from 4–0 down?
“Once they scored, the intensity of their play became a lot higher. Their passing, movement and communication improved and they also missed a couple of chances.
“It turned into a very exciting game.”
Having refereed Pollokshields a few times, what’s your assessment of them as a footballing side?
“I feel their players are technically gifted. They have some very good footballers.”
And your overall verdict on the game?
“It was a very exciting game.”
At 4–0, this looked done.
It wasn’t.
Maryhill Black Star changed the way they played, found a route back into the game and suddenly Pollokshields were being asked questions that hadn’t looked likely earlier.
What I like about the two verdicts is that they come from completely different positions.
Nim saw his side begin to sit deeper. Gary Coupe saw Maryhill’s intensity, passing, movement and communication improve.
Different viewpoints. Same change in the game.
And perhaps that is exactly what Inside Verdict should be about — not simply telling you the score, but getting a little closer to understanding how the game actually unfolded.
