GDSFC State of Play: Perfect Records, Big Statements and a +42 Goal Difference

The Sunday Trophy took much of the attention this weekend, but a smaller GDSFC league programme still managed to produce plenty to talk about.

Only 12 league matches were played across five divisions, yet they produced 75 goals.

More importantly, Sunday’s results have started to give us a clearer picture of which clubs are setting the early pace.

🏆 Premiership — Milan Make Their Move

Maryhill Milan couldn’t have asked for a much better start.

Their 5–0 victory away to Kelburne AFC made it four league wins from four and moved Milan onto 12 points, with 18 goals scored and only four conceded.

But there is a rather large warning sitting immediately behind them.

Todholm AFC have played one game fewer and also have a perfect record — three wins from three with an extraordinary 27 goals scored.

Pollokshields United also strengthened their position with a 5–3 victory over Haghill AFC and now sit third on eight points.

The stat: Milan and Todholm are the Premiership’s remaining 100% sides.

🏆 Championship — Rossvale Lead, But Watch Kilsyth

There were no Championship league fixtures on Sunday, but the table remains worth watching.

Rossvale Sundays lead with 10 points from four matches and remain unbeaten.

Behind them, Kilsyth Athletic Colts have six points from only two league games.

And although it doesn’t count towards this table, their weekend became considerably more interesting when they defeated Premiership Todholm 5–3 in the Sunday Trophy.

That’s one we’ll be remembering.

🏆 Division One — Two Perfect Starts Collide at the Top

Springhall Spartans came through a ten-goal contest against Steins Thistle, winning 6–4.

That takes Springhall to 13 points from five matches and keeps them unbeaten.

But Third Lanark Sunday are only one point behind having played one game fewer — and their record is perfect: four games, four wins.

Barrhead Victoria’s 8–0 victory over Motherwell Villa was another result worth noticing. Barrhead have now conceded only four goals in their opening three league games.

The stat: Springhall are top, but Third Lanark can overtake them with their game in hand.

🔥 Division Two — That Castlemilk Record Is Still Ridiculous

Castlemilk FA didn’t play a league fixture on Sunday.

Nobody caught them.

After four matches their record remains:

4 played. 4 won. 44 scored. 2 conceded. +42 goal difference.

Behind them, Paisley Saints continued their strong start with a 3–1 victory over Glasgow Irish, moving onto 10 points from five matches.

Vale AFC also have 10 points but have played one game fewer.

At the other end of the early table, Glasgow Irish are still looking for their first points after five matches.

The stat: Castlemilk are averaging 11 league goals per game.

⚽ Division Three — Eleven for Muirend

There wasn’t much subtle about Muirend Athletic’s contribution to Sunday.

Muirend 11–2 Strathclyde United.

It moves Muirend up to fourth and gives them 18 league goals for the season.

But the clubs above them continue to set the pace.

Glasgow Villa are four from four, while Clydebank Sunday are three from three. Dennistoun Saints sit between them on nine points from four.

West End United also moved onto six points after their 3–0 victory over Kirkintilloch Athletic.

The stat: Glasgow Villa and Clydebank Sunday are both still protecting perfect league records.

🏆 Division Four — Five From Five for Woodhill

Perhaps the simplest story anywhere in the GDSFC.

Woodhill AFC 5–0 Jags For Good.

That means:

5 played.
5 won.
26 scored.
6 conceded.
15 points.

They already have a six-point advantage at the top, although the clubs immediately behind them have games in hand.

PSP Sunday moved onto nine points with a 4–1 victory over Drumchapel United Reds, while Glasgow Gladiators and Glasgow Corinthians drew 2–2.

And seventh-placed Greens AFC provided a reminder that league position doesn’t necessarily mean much once cup football begins — knocking Division One Fordbank Star out of the Sunday Trophy 4–3.

The stat: Woodhill are the only GDSFC side currently sitting on 15 league points.
